Late grammar and selective testing, results after deadline and changes to preferences
Everything has been updated to take account of late grammar and selective testing this year and receiving results after the application deadline. Testing dates were moved to allow pupils to settle back into school after such a long period of home learning and to allow schools and local authorities more time to make arrangements for safe testing environments.
Families taking grammar and selective tests will receive outcome information after the national application deadline, however they must still submit their online applications by this statutory deadline of 31 October and not wait for test results.
This will give them access to a new second deadline of 10 December 2020 when they can revise their preferences if the results were not as expected – such as to add or remove a selective school or to change their preference order.
Bromley will put a form to request preference changes on the website www.bromley.gov.uk on 1st December, as test results are being made available. This deadline is only available to families with applications impacted by taking a selective/grammar test. The change form should be completed and submitted – it will go straight to Admissions for processing. All London Local Authorities have agreed to this late deadline so school preferences in neighbouring authorities will be taken into account.
We have not produced a list of open events as schools are still planning how they will be managed this year. There are a wide range of virtual opportunities being organised, such as online tours, talks and interactive events. Parents should regularly check school websites for the latest information updates.
Home to School Distances and application/preference advice
Members of the Admissions Team are available for advice on the main Admissions number 020 8313 4044 from 12-3pm weekdays. Phone lines are busy and callers may have to hold, however demand will hopefully decrease over the coming weeks. We can map individual addresses and give advice based on previous years’ national offer day distances reached (also available in Applying for a School Place 2021 booklet) as well as helping parents make their online applications.
