Computing at Manor Oak

The national curriculum for computing aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
  • can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems

  • can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
  • are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.

At Manor Oak we use the NCCE scheme where pupils have the opportunity to become computer programmers in different real life contexts.‚Äč

At Manor Oak, we use Espresso Block Coding. It's block-based, drag-and-drop system supports accessible, creative learning for children of all abilities and levels of experience. Children can easily make presentations, games, simulations, puzzle. Scratch can support learning across the whole curriculum, using contexts across maths, English and beyond.
