RED NOSE DAY

WORLD BOOK DAY

Dear Parents/ Carers,

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 2nd March 2017, and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion.

World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading. To help get them started on their reading journey, every child receives a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can either be exchanged for one of ten special £1 World Book Day books or used to get £1 off any book costing £2.99 or more.

Your child’s token will be sent home and can be redeemed at most UK bookshops. Please help your child to use it on or around World Book Day by visiting your local bookshop (for example, Waterstones in the Nugent’s Centre).

Many book based activities will be happening throughout the day at school on March 2nd. For example, we are going to do some paired reading with older and younger children in our library. We are also going to show and celebrate all of the books that the children made and brought in for their half term homework last half term. They were fantastic! As part of this we would like to invite your child to dress up as any character from one of their favourite books.

There will be a book sale after school at 3.05pm outside the office if you or your child/ren would like to buy a new book for £1.50. Unfortunately, the world book day vouchers cannot be used on these books however.

Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous—so we hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate it with your child.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Cresswell
