Music at Manor Oak
Music is a universal language, the understanding of which fosters great creativity. At Manor Oak children are encouraged to develop their love of music and their talents as musicians, which in turn increases their self-confidence, creativity and a sense of achievement. This is achieved through:-
Learning to sing and play classroom instruments, expressively and with increasing control, on their own and with others.
Improvising, creating and composing their own music using the elements of music.
Listening to, evaluating and responding to a range of music from the great composers to contemporary music and including music from different traditions.
The children are given the opportunity each term to perform to each other in Music Assemblies and to parents in Christmas and end of year productions. Once a year children in Year 6 take part in the Cray Schools Choral Concert and every two years in the Bromley Youth Music Trust’s Schools’ Prom.
